Screenwriter and author Dave Coleman is releasing his new book The Bigfoot Filmography through McFarland Publishing in the fall of 2011 (which is this fall). I know what I want for my birthday this year (I’m talking to you guys on the Wasasquatch team, especially you Russ, after what Janey and I got you last year).
This book looks like it is going to be a completely awesome coffee table experience with over 100 rare photos from films going back to the earliest days of the industry.
Citing the earliest examples of Yeti movies by pioneering filmmakers such as George Méliès and Willis O’Brien, and then moving forward through film history to denote key moments in the genre’s progression, The Bigfoot Filmography meticulously documents how the Cine du Sasquatch genre has always been lurking, just out of classification in film critique annals and as misunderstood as the cryptozoological namesake which inspires the films.
Hopefully, when it comes out we can put together an interview with Mr. Coleman. It would be great if it came out about the same time as we are looking at doing our big get together in early September.
